Hi, I'm Doug. I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. The first thing we have to do in order to get the old brakes off is to get these drums off. They fit real tight from the factory and they have little retainer clips on them. Let me see here, this one doesn't have the retainers on them; somebody left them off over the years. Oh no, there's one here, it got painted blue; you can barely see there's a retainer clip there. Mark's going to destroy that getting it off. It was a feature they installed with the car at the factory to hold the drums on real tight while it went down the assembly line. Most of the time when people do brake repairs over the years, they discard these clips. So, this indicates this car probably never had rear brakes done to it. Do you think I'm about right? In our business we very rarely see these clips; we don't work on many modern cars. It's kind of interesting to take off old brakes and throw them away. So, the more dependable fastener for keeping the drums on, though, is rust. These suckers will be rusted on. Mark might have himself a real chore getting them off.
