Thresholds in Magic: The Gathering

Hi this is Mike Lopez with Expert Village. Today we're going to be discussing Magic: the Gathering the card game. Now we're going to discuss the ability, Threshhold. Some cards, creature cards have Threshold, spell cards have Threshold. An instance of this is Cabal Ritual. It is 1 and a black, it normally gives you, 3 mana to your mana pool. So you get an extra mana, however, Threshold allows you to get more. Now what Threshold is, is when you have 7 or more cards in your graveyard, as we can see here, that there are exactly 7. So instead of just adding 3 to our mana pool, we get to add 5, which could allow us to play, a 5 creature that costs 5, a creature that costs 4 and a black, or added to a Blaze or an X spell or added to a spell that gives 1/ whatever to any creature we have. However, you must also note, that you have placed 5 instead of that 3. There's not a choice to place just 3. Once you have Threshold on any card that has the ability Threshold, the Threshold happens automatically. So you are automatically going to put 5 in there instead of 3. So, you have to spend the 5 before the end of your turn to make sure you do not suffer from mana burn.
