DJ Trails with hiphopelements.com, Miami, Florida. We are going to go on mixture basics #2; this is the best what you need to know to operate one of these DJ mixers. What we haven’t discussed in channel 1 here is how you actually mix in the headphones. We have our monitor level here which is your headphones. We have a headphone input on the front of the mixer and then we have the same thing as a cross fader, we have for the headphones. So basically what you would do is we would be playing one side live on the speakers and when we are cueing up the next side and we want to get the tempo correct before we throw in the mix so it sounds good. We don’t want everybody to hear our trial and error. So what we do is we cross fade over to this side, adjust the monitor level towards comfortable and now this channel A is going to be playing out over the loud speakers and channel B will only play in your headphones. You can mix it in slowly if you want in your headphones and when you are ready to go, you flip it over, go with the level, come out in the middle, slowly you fade it in and you have your mix.
