Learn Common Flea & Tick Habitats

Hi this is Elise McMahon with expertvillage.com and this video series we are going to talking about flea and tick prevention. If you like to find more about my services you can visit my website canineheadstart.com. So in this video clip we are going to be talking about were you can encounter fleas and ticks. Believe it on not even on a cold a wet day you can still encounter fleas and ticks in the area like this. This a wooded area and this is a very common area to encounter ticks when you are out walking with your dog. Another place that you can encounter ticks which is quiet different from this is a open field and open tall grass field like this what we have here. So imagine you dog encounters this lovely field and starts running around well sure enough they can come back into the house and you can find a couple of ticks on them. Fleas are going to be found on anywhere you can find fleas in the city. So it is not as easy to predict because they are really going to be found in more general locations. However, for ticks prevention if you are trying to avoid picking ticks for you dog you can avoid places like woods or like tall grassy fields. At times when ticks are prevalent and again that would be in most areas that is going to be in the fall and in the spring. When the new ticks are catching and coming out. So in April and October you might want to consider not going for walks in the wood or not letting you dog play in long grass unless the have some sort of flea and tick prevention on them or if they have ingested something that you have giving them a oral medication.
