Hi! I am Debbie with expertvillage.com. We are talking about having hermit crabs for pets. When you get your hermit crabs because you want one that is active, but you need to be very cautious, if you have an active crab who is a little braver than others and he likes to jump out of the shell. You need to know exactly what to do if that happens. So, this goes pretty active. When you are holding your hermit crab and when he is coming out off his shell and if that scares you a little bit, you can blow on him and he will go back in or get back to the shell. You need to cautious of that big claw that has a powerful pinch. I have had crabs for many years and I have been pinched one time and believe me it hurts. So, you need to be really cautious of that. If the crab thinks he is going to fall, he is going to grab on, that is a natural response. So don’t let him fall. Keep you hand flat and he will crawl very happily across your hand. Then, one time that I was pinched I think he was scared we were walking and I got pinched right here on my finger. If that ever happens to you, you need to go to water faucet, put him under some warm water and hopefully they will release quickly.
Are you a retard, woman? I mean seriously. Kids, this is how to kill your crabs in about two days.
Hermit crabs don't jump out of their shell all of the way, unless they are stressed.
Also, tap water can hurt them, because of the chlorine. They have gills, just like fish.
As well intended as Ms. Noah may be in sharing her "expert" knowledge on land hermit crab husbandry, as Expert Village has deemed her based on being an award winning teacher who has cared for land hermit crabs for 14 years, these videos are very misleading with regard to what necessitates proper care. There are too many corrections to point out here on each of Ms. Noah's videos so, if you are truly interested in providing care that gives your hermit crabs the opportunity for a happy, healthy and longer life, and you prefer to have pets that not only survive, but thrive, please visit landhermitcrabs.com. We look forward to meeting you!
I'm sorry Debbie, but this is dumb, I actually had one of those books before and I know it didn't say "braver than others and he likes to jump out of the shell", please get rid of this or at least mention a site where people have real experience, its not personal, I just don't agree with you at all.
Don't trust this woman. She has no idea whatsoever to take care of hermit crabs.
