Bench Press Fitness Exercises
Hello. My name is Adam Davila and my business is Adam’s Personal Training and my website is http://www.adamtraining.com. The next exercise I’m going to demonstrate is the chest press, or bench press. The bench press is great for developing the pectoral muscles, the triceps and the shoulders. At first glance the bench press can seem like a very simple exercise, but it actually can be a very complicated exercise when done correctly. When you do the bench press you want to make sure that your feet are rooted to the floor, so in other words plant your feet into the ground. You don’t want your feet all wobbly and all over the place. If you have to you can put a bench under your feet to give you some leverage so that you’re not moving your feet too much. When you’re doing your bench press you want to make sure you have a nice even spacing on the bar. Most Olympic bars there is going to be a couple rings on the bars so you can use either one of your fingers to get a nice grip on there. Another thing to consider is your safety, so you want to make sure your clamps are on your bars so that your weights don’t fall off if you happen to tilt your bar in one direction. Once you lay down and you get your even spacing on the bar you want to take a nice deep inhale and a nice even grip before you take the bar off. But most importantly you want to make sure you get the bar under control before you take the bar down. I’ll demonstrate. One added safety aspect to the bench press is when you’re done with your last repetition of the set you want to make sure you bar is under control before placing it back on the rack.
