How to Weld in a New Car Trunk Floor

Hi, I'm Doug. I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins custom hot rods and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Now, Alex is welding in the trunk floor. Everything's cut, perfect, fit nicely, every once in a while he'll be taking his hammer and tapping it down and making sure the fit is exactly right before he does anymore welding. He'll tack the whole trunk floor in little 3/4" or 1/2" long tacks in order to make sure everything is all nicely done and so it doesn't get too much heat in one spot at a time. The entire time to repair this trunk, because we're putting in the fuel tank straps, the body mounts, the expanding of that one panel there, it's around twelve or thirteen hours, fourteen hours labor for this job. That will include the seam sealing, the spatter paint inside the trunk.
