How to Remove a Trunk Body Mount Flange

Hi, I'm Doug. I work with 20 great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Costume Hot Rods, and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. What Alex is doing now is peeling away the old flange from the old body mount; the new body mount has this flange on it here. He is peeling it away the old flange that is nicely sealed to the car, to keep out water. This is a miserable, hard, time consuming work, nothing better than a grinder, a screw driver a plasma grinder. You just pick and chisel and pull and pry and get everything out. There is also some rust in the wheel house of the car that we will repair with a small piece of steel. There is some piece there that we will have to just make a little metal piece to fit in there.
