How to Apply Mascara

Hi I'm Kelly on behalf of Expert Village. I'm going to be showing you make up trends for this fall season. First we're going to apply a little bit of a mascara primer. Mascara primer conditions the lashes. It also builds up the volume and the length and it enables your mascara to go on a lot smoother without clumping or flaking. The lifespan of a lash is actually about 160 days and that's without mascara. So that's a virgin eye lash. When you put mascara on it decreases the lifespan of your lashes up to 60 days so that brings the lifespan of your lash down to 100 days. If you use a primer underneath that will actually add those 60 days back on so your lash's lifespan is back up to where it was before you were wearing mascara. Now we're going to apply some mascara for her. We're going to apply it in a wiggling motion, so it enables you to separate the lashes better and prevent clumping. We're just going to roll the brush on top of the lashes. We're going to start at the base and we're going to wiggle the brush all the way up to the tip, making sure you get all the way up to the tip. Most people have blond tips on their lashes, so you want to be sure you get all the way to the tip to make your lashes look longer. Also, while you're starting from the base and wiggling up if you press and hold slightly, it will give you a little more curl to your lashes without having to use an eyelash curler. We all know how scary those can be sometimes when we rip our eyelashes out. If you hold it and allow the polymers in the mascara to dry and shrink it will naturally hold the lash with a little more curl. I’m going to apply two coats for this look because it is more of a dramatic look. I want to make sure her eyelashes have a lot of definition.
