How to Distinguish Unidentified Antiques
Hello, I'm Statia Widak and I'm from Plainville, Massachusetts and I love collecting glass it is my hobby. I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. Alright we have some unusual things here. We have a spoon holder and this is around a hundred years old. You'd put your tea spoons when you we're serving tea or whatever. You'd line up your spoons and this would hold the tea spoon. We have a frog, it's a beautiful glass frog for a flower arrangement. We have the salt, this would be for the whole table and what you would do years ago is you'd pinch the salt and you would sift it through your fingers and you'd season your food. The toothpicks are another thing we don't use that cause we go to the dentist more often. We don't need toothpicks, but we would always have them at the table so people could pick their teeth. We have the reamers which are used to squeeze the lemons or the orange juice and today of course we buy all our juices out of a container at stop and shop or whatever grocery store we go to. These are old, this is depression glass so that was probably 1928, 1930 it's a beautiful piece of depression glass. We have ash trays; well today we've encouraged many people not to smoke. Years ago we had ash trays everywhere and we used to buy them everywhere. Today it's only occasionally someone will smoke a cigarette in a house usually we make people go outside to do their smoking. So we don't have a use for the ash tray like we did before.
