How to Determine Value of Antiques
Hello! I'm Statia Widak and I'm from Plainville, Massachussets and I love collecting glass, it is my hobby. I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. Here is a Moonstone piece right here. There's a small bowl and a larger bowl. And what I do when I get something like this, I would look for the patent. I know it would be in the collectible, Fifty years of Collectible Glass 1920 to 1970. So I would take my book and my glass and bring it to the table and I would look for the design and the patent and all. And when I would find the patent in the book, it's under Moonstone, and it tells me it was 1942 to 1946. Then I would take my measure and I would measure it. And of course it measures the seven and three quarters. So I know I found the right patent and the right measurement and all so that would be worth like fifteen dollars. Then I have a larger bowl and I would do the same here. I would measure it and that comes up to nine inches and a half. It's a crimped edge, and it's twenty-seven dollars. And that's how I would get some of my pricing because I wouldn't know exactly how to price it but by the book, I have an idea.
