Addressing a Golf Ball to Improve Your Golf Swing

Hello I am Arthur DeBolt on behalf of Expert Village. The last lesson that we did was to set up these gridlines. Now that we understand that one is the ball flight line, and the other is index line, we are going to take up this lesson, which is address. Address means that I am going to address the ball with the club head, and then I am going to set my feet so that the index line is where my heel goes. The reason for that is that, when I swing a golf club, I am going to have to get it in such a position that the club may contact with the ball perfectly. In order to do that, I bring the club back, and when I bring the club down, the line that I have here that I put my heel on becomes the bottom of my swing. So that the club head is coming down before the line, and then is coming up after the line. By having that as the bottom of my swing, all of these clubs give me a choice as to where to put the ball, so that I can gear the club head to land at the bottom of my swing. So when I take address and set my feet, I know that I am going to hit this ball at the bottom of my swing, because that is where it happens to be every time I want to swing the club. So, as I bring the club back, I know that I am going to bring it down, and is going to make contact right exactly at the bottom of my swing. So it is going to be slightly on the up swing when it comes through the ball. So if you watch I will show how it works. It is now exactly where I wanted to be.
