How to Sample Test Ham Radios

Hi, I'm Kurt for Expert Village. We're continuing now with some how to study for your ham test. What we do is I have a short little blurb on the internet actually showing you the direct way to set up and actually take some sample questions to prepare yourself for the ham radio test. So with no further adieu--right to the demo. As you see here, I'm just using Google, and I typed in 'Sample Ham Test.' And we'll just see what comes up here at this point. And. And it just comes up. I've selected this one here, this one, this AA9PC is an amateur radio operator and has some practice pages. What I've selected go over here and select resources, and this gives us kind of an overview as to what the pages are. Now, it looks like they've changed a little bit, they've changed a few pieces in here from the Technician, so they've expanded that operating procedure just a little. But this gives you a quick overview as to the questions. Now, you can click on this one here, but I'm going to--yeah, and this actually takes you to the actual question pool that is used through June 30th, 2007, of course, which is a little dated. But, they have particular types of elements that are used, a question pool that was decided back years ago, and so it's on the basis of these questions that you would be taking the test. As you can see, one, they are all multiple choice, two, they are taken from different elements of the ham radio code--and you will have to study these and know these in order to pass them. These are not saying that these tests are they are just sample. They are not saying that these are the exact questions that you would have on the test, but they will give you the general principles of that which you will need to take an exam. If you feel that you want to try to take a sample exam, you could select one of these here and then click down to "take an exam" to just question your authoritative knowledge as to what you may or may not know in these particular elements, for say, the Technician, the General Class right here, or the Extra Class right there. I'm just going to select General again, bring up "take exam" and this gives you questions that are used in this sample exam to give you a good overview as to what you might encounter when you actually take the test for real. A Volunteer Examiner actually administers the test, and you would then fill out a form and pay a basic fee. Some charge ten dollars, when I became a ham it was five dollars--of course everything goes up. So, this is basically the way you would take a test, and we appreciate your time here. In our next session we will actually get into the meat and potatoes of what makes up an amateur radio station.
