Hello, my name is Melissa and on behalf of Expert Village, today we're going to be talking about how to prevent a cavity and how to save your smile. In this clip let's talk about how to prevent a cavity by chewing dental gum. Now, for instance, let's say you were out for lunch and you weren't at home so you couldn't brush your teeth. What I like to do especially if you're out at a meeting or you're leading a very busy life is in my purse I carry with me dental gum. They, normally Arm and Hammer makes a really good brand. They come in a couple of different flavors, but the key to what I call dental gum is that it's sugar free. What you want to do, you have to remember that cavities are caused by bacteria. What you want to do then is try to clear as much bacteria out of your mouth as possible. Dental gum is great. It helps clean out those hard to reach places and I find especially if you lead a very busy life and you're on the go it really really does help and you'll notice they come in packs like this usually, you pop it out, you can chew one or two pieces but I can always feel my mouth feels a whole lot cleaner after using it. Again, the key, sugar free gum because what does bacteria love? Bacteria loves sugar and also carbohydrates but we're talking about basically sugar so you want that sugar free gum but a good way if you can't brush your teeth to at least start cleaning out your teeth and you'll find too if you can take a water bottle with you drink some water and try to clear out as much of those food particles as possible.
