How to Use Baking Soda to Prevent Cavities

Hello, my name is Melissa and on behalf of Expert Village, today we're going to be talking about how to prevent a cavity and how to save your smile. In this clip let's talk about saving your smile and how to prevent a cavity by using something as simple as baking soda. In the good old days before there was really toothpaste, everybody used baking soda many people at least used baking soda. Just the good old fashioned what you can get in the grocery store Arm and Hammer baking soda. You will find that if you use say toothpaste, this is what I do, I brush my teeth first with toothpaste and then sometimes, not everyday but a couple of times a week I'll just put a bit of baking soda on my wet toothbrush and I'll brush my teeth. Now this is something you obviously don't want to swallow. You shouldn't be swallowing your toothpaste either of course, but you'll notice it's gritty. Baking soda is gritty but what it does is it polishes your teeth. Think of it if you were using an exfoliator on your skin. What is it? There are little bits of particles or stone particles inside of that your exfoliating your skin. Well that's kind of what you're doing with the baking soda. It is cleaning the teeth of course, but its also polishing them and exfoliating them you might say but as I mentioned earlier, thats what many people used to use before there was even toothpaste made from all these different brand makers. So try the baking soda, just don't swallow it, put a bit in your toothbrush, scrub away and you'll notice your smile will certainly get a whole lot brighter.
