This was a misguided video. Crabs need at least a 10 gallon aquarium and enough substrate to bury themselves. If you are thinking about buying hermit crabs and need some REAL information, pleae visit hermitcrabsrus.com You will get some great start-up advice from the site members. These videos present all of the commercial stereotypes and misconceptions about "correct" hermit crab care. The only thin she did right was give them some fresh veggies...her water bowls were not big enough for the crabs to climb into and soak....they need dechlorinated water....you need humidity and temp. gauges....and you don't bathe them everyday...they also need salt water made from Instand Ocean....I think Debbie should visit some of the popular hermit crab care sites and get some tips on proper crab care.

You need at least 2-3 inches of moist sand so they can molt. 10 gallons isn't big enough to hold an colony by the way. 10 gal can hold about 3-5 small-medium sized crabs at the most including toys, water, food, shells, etc.

As well intended as Ms. Noah may be in sharing her "expert" knowledge on land hermit crab husbandry, as Expert Village has deemed her based on being an award winning teacher who has cared for land hermit crabs for 14 years, these videos are very misleading with regard to what necessitates proper care. There are too many corrections to point out here on each of Ms. Noah's videos so, if you are truly interested in providing care that gives your hermit crabs the opportunity for a happy, healthy and longer life, and you prefer to have pets that not only survive, but thrive, please visit landhermitcrabs.com. We look forward to meeting you!

Award winner my arse. This woman knows nothing at all.

she is an expert. an expert hermit crab killer. when she is talking, put your fingers in your ear, you will be smarter for it.

Debbie, you are a complete and utter imbecile. I wouldn't want you caring for a pet rock, let alone a living, breathing creature. I cannot believe you are actually a teacher. I guess you are bringing up a whole generation of hermit crab torturers. Learn what you are talking about before you come on here and claim to be an expert. Please delete all of your videos on here before you kill thousands more crabs.

That tank is way too small. It needs to be a 10 gallon or more. For more actual expert advise, go to www.geocities.com/landhermitcrab2006

Good idea, this would be funny if it wasn't supposed to be educational.

Tips on Choosing an Aquarium for Pet Hermit Crabs

Hi! I am Debbie with expertvillage.com and we are here today to talk about having hermit crabs as pets, all the ins and outs and things you need to supply for your hermit crabs and where to buy them. Right now, we are going to talk about your aquarium or your habitat for your hermit crabs. Depending on how many crabs you want to keep, you can get up to like a ten-gallon aquarium, if you want a whole colony of hermit crabs; or you can get the smaller variety like you see right here there is in the plastic, but the important thing is you need a lid that snaps on tight. With a glass aquarium you need a glass lid so your hermit crabs are not going to escape and it helps with providing humidity in the aquarium. This one has a plastic snap on lid that you can open like this, so you can get in and clean things out and it also has just a smaller lower lid that pops up. So, you can just reach your hand down in there and get your hermit crabs out. You can buy these crabs at any pet store or discount stores, in lot of times in your malls, they have kiosks in the middle of the mall that has all kinds of things for hermit crabs.
