Aliens & UFOs in Science Fiction Movies

Again, Bigfoot creatures could actually be ETs. Not proved, but an intriguing possibility. Now to tell you about some of my favorite sci-fi films. Of course we have "The Silent Earth", "Earth Versus The Flying Saucers". "The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers", "Destination Moon", "War of the Worlds" and "The Day The Earth Stood Still." Just a little trivia about "The Day The Earth Stood Still", hte movie executives wanted Spencer Tracy to play the role of Klaatu, the alien. But Julian Blosting, the producer, said no way! He said that if Spencer Tracy emerges from that space craft, that's just going to kill the credibility. And he was right. Instead he chose Michael Rennie, a tall, distinguished English actor not known in the states. And he carried off that role to perfection. Now let me ask you this trivia question. How long did the Earth actually stand still for? From noon to twelve-thirty as you recall. Rennie and co-star Patricia Neale were in an elevator that stopped. And all electricity stopped on Earth except for planes and emergency hospital services. That's how the Earth stood still. It wasn't actually, phyiscally stopped, and only for half an hour. However my number one personal favorite sci-fi flick is from nineteen fifty, "Rocketship XM" starring John Emery, Lloyd Bridges, Hugh OBryan, and Osa Massen. It involves the first space ship to the moon. "Rocketship XM" means expedition moon. However it was mysteriously diverted to the planet Mars, where our destiny was revealed to those astronauts. Let's see what they found out. Roll tape.
