Ingredients for Mashed Potatoes

Hi my name is Lori with Figs Catering in Austin, Texas on behalf of Expert Village today we are going to show you how to make a entire Thanksgiving meal. Today we are going to make our roasted garlic mashed potatoes for our Thanksgiving dinner. They are a little different then our regular mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving dinner cause we are going to make it flavored with roasted garlic. Now if you don't like roasted garlic no problem at all just don't add it you can also add other flavorings like rosemary, thyme, you can add in different cheese for different flavors. So to do this we are going to have our potatoes that we boiled and here we are using Yukon gold potatoes. However you can use Russet I like Yukon gold cause they are a nice buttery creamy flavor. Next I got roasted garlic, I've got unsalted butter and I like unsalted butter whenever I cook because I like to control the salt that I'm putting into the potatoes and then heavy whipping cream. Now if you are trying to watch your weight or make it a little bit more figure friendly instead of using heavy whipping cream you can use chicken stock or mushroom stock. We are also going to use kosher salt, fresh ground pepper and a masher.
