How to Check Turkey Temperature
Hi my name is Lori with Figs Catering in Austin, Texas on behalf of Expert Village today we are going to show you how to make a entire Thanksgiving meal. Okay it has been about 3 hours our turkey is about 10 pounds so it should be just about done. I'm going to go ahead and remove it from the oven and I'm going to check the temperature. Now here you can see it is very very hot you want to be very careful. With my digital thermometer the place you want to take the temperature of your turkey is always going to be at the thickest part. However you want to make sure you are not touching the bone cause that temperature would be different then any other place in the bird. So I've got my thermometer up in between the thigh and the breast I got it all the way in so I can make sure I got a actual temperature and it is reading about 165 which it is done. However before I ever want to cut my turkey I want to let it rest for about 20 minutes and that is to help let the juices come back to the turkey and that way when we cut it all the juices don't run out. So I'm just going to place the tent on it and I'm going to let it sit aside for about 20 minutes and your turkey is then ready to be served. That is how you roast your Thanksgiving turkey.
