How to Change the Filter in a Refrigerator
Hi! I'm Kay and we are filming here at expertvillage.com and we are here at Carter's Appliance in Fontana, California. You may occasionally have to change out the filter. The manufacturer's suggest that you change them out maybe every 6 months to a year depending upon the usage and most refrigerators now are made with an indicator light to tell you when to change them out. An indicator light will let you know when it is time to replace the water filter and that is the purpose of the indicator light. Otherwise you will have to kind of guess because what happens is the water will begin to get a funny taste to it or it will have a cloudy appearance and have sediment in it and you will know that it is time to change that water filter. On your newer model refrigerators, most of the water filters are going to be located somewhere on the refrigerator itself. Inside the fresh food section or maybe below the freezer compartment. Occasionally on older model refrigerators or refrigerators that do not have a filtration system in them, an ice maker is optional. You may have to have an inline water filter installed which would be connected to the copper tubing from yuour existing water service to the refrigerator.
