How to use a Bulb Sucker (or Aspirator) to Remove Mucus
Hello this is Vanessa on behalf of Expert Village.com and I am going to talk to you about the bulb sucker. Not a favorite of the newborns but it is an essential tool. When Andrew was a newborn, his swallow reflex was not the greatest so he would spit up into his mouth and not swallow and therefore not be able to breathe. So we had to take the bulb sucker, put it all the way in, put it in the corner of his mouth and release the bulb. That would get the suction. That is very important for suctioning out the mouth. When you suction out the nose it is the same thing. Only you partially depress the bulb only half-way put it in the baby’s nostril, release the bulb and then squirt it into the napkin. You need to remember is it you press the bulb first and then insert it into the nostril and then release. Do not insert and then press. That is a bad idea. Not a favorite of the babies but it is essential. They do need it and it will help. That is the bulb sucker.
