Hello, I'm Mark Blocker with expert village. In this segment, we're going to cover test fitting the hose and installing new clamps. Prior to installing this new hose you might want to save yourself some trouble and visually verify, comparing to the old hose you just took off. Compare the angles, the sizes, the lengths and the diameter of the hose. The new hose will always appear a little bit smaller than the hose you just removed. That's because of the expansion and the dry rot causes the old hose to look larger. The hoses appear to be the same sizes and length and everything matches up so prior to installing this we're going to want to lubricate these two ends because they slide up over nipples that are quite commonly corroded and install new clamps. You can lubricate it using a variety of methods, a small amount of Vaseline, a small amount of oil. In this case I'm going to use a small amount of silicone lubricant. I just squirt a tiny bit in the hose, rub it around with my finger a little bit, ensure that it is evenly applied on both ends. Remember less is more. Any time you've got a rubber product or rubber bi product with chemicals, you could have reactions and deterioration, so you want to use minimal amount of lubrication and prevent any possibility of pre deterioration due to chemical imbalance. Before we install the hoses we want to kind of get a good look at everything and hold the clamps in our hands and make sure our clamps are in the right direction so we have accessibility to them once they're in position with the screw driver. If you put them on and you put them on in the wrong direction you'll have to remove the hose again to get the clamp off to turn it around. So if you pre-check this, you can set the clamps up so you'll have good accessibility with your screw driver once they're in place, once the actual hose in the place where it's designed to be. So I've figured out that the clamps will work best in this configuration on this type hose. Watch our next segment on installing the hose.
