Flying Dragon Kites
Howdy this is Corey Jensen with Wind Power Sports in Las Vegas, Nevada baby. We are doing some kite flying today. Got a little bit of a breeze and we are going to do a hand launch for a dragon kite. Stand with your back to the wind, hold the kite up, let a little bit of line out, give it a tug and let it drift away. Every time it drifts away it takes a little more line and then you pull it up and let it drift away and pull it up and let it drift away and it takes about and right now it is taking about 2 or 3 feet of line to every time I let it out getting a little bit of altitude because I got a length now. Get it out a little bit more and get up above ground affects wind and the kite flies. Notice, no running. You can always get the kids to run across the field a couple of times just before dinner time or right after dinner or before bedtime. That is an acceptable practice but running with the kite. You are either not watching the kite or you are not watching where you are running; either way, not paying attention to one of the important two things that you are doing. So you play with the kite. Notice that I do not have the winder in my hand. I have the line in my hand. The winder is for winding not for handling the kite. It really does get in the way. It’s a lot more fun if you got the fingers on the rend and you get to play, interact. Remember, kite flying is not about watching, that’s television and video games. Kite flying is play and that’s do. The more you can do the more you can enjoy yourself and get involved, the more relaxing and rewarding your afternoon is going to be.
