Use Ribbon to Make Corsages & Boutonnieres
Hi! My name is Amelia Tallman and on behalf of Expert Village.com, I am here today to talk about how to build wearable flowers, such as corsages, boutonnieres and hair garlands. For both garlands and corsages often times, ribbon accompanies it and you need to choose the appropriate size ribbon. For a corsage, it’s really important that you don’t go too big; I have some examples here. This is one and a half inch piece of ribbon and this is much too large for a corsage. If you can imagine tying a bow out of this, it would look awfully gaudy to have strapped to you with some flowers attached to it as well. So what you are looking for is three-quarter inch ribbon down to half inch ribbon. Even quarter inch ribbon sometimes works to build your bows with. It’s a lot easier to work with a wired ribbon especially if you aren’t used to tying bows, because you have to tie a pretty small bow; it could be a little fiddly, so I would recommend trying to find a half inch wire ribbon to do your bows with.
