Know the Athlete's Problem Areas in Sports Massage Therapy

Hi, we're back. And this is Beverly Hills Health and Fitness and this is Peter. He is one of the owners here at Beverly Hills Health and Fitness. What I am going to do is I am going to ask Peter if he has any problems or is there anything he would like to work on and if there are any areas he would like to work on or if there is any areas he wants us to avoid. So Peter is there any things that kind of bother you or things that hinder your workout that you would like to work on? Yes, there are a few things that come to mind. A little bit lower back situation because I think it runs in the family. Not pain or anything like that. I like it to be more concentrated on lower back. I do a lot of martial arts so my flexibility is a little bit off. I need to be like stretched. I don't like deep muscle tissue massages, but I need to be pulled. Right, okay. Because I tense up like this. Okay, so basically, what we're going to do is, once again, like I said, we're in a gym atmosphere. So he's actually going to get on the table. It's his option if he would like to get undressed totally, but I do ask that if I could get your back and different areas like that because it helps with the flow when I actually do massages. And like he said, he doesn't like deep tissue, so its not really important for me to apply too much pressure bit that thing that I will do is I will stretch him, I will continue to communicate with him and let him know if there are certain areas that I am pressing too hard or kind of like uncomfortable to him and we'll just go from there. Like I said, sports massage is integration so I will apply a little deep tissue, a little yogic, maybe a little reflexology, which requires me to stretch and kind of help to increase his mobility and range of motion and blood flow. Are you ready to go? Yes I am.
