Hello this is Rob Rubin and you're watching Expert Village. It just kind of dawned on me while I am doing tech work on my stuff. A lot of people when doing tech work will immediately start saying oh I need to upgrade, I need to get new gear, I need to get this and then they always ask what do I need to get, what do I need to buy? Well I'm not going to give you any brand names because the brand names change from year to year but what I am going to give you is some solid advice and that is the first big question is do you really need new gear? A lot of people will jump up and down and say yes I need new gear. Don't confuse new gear with better skill. If you can't hit the broad side of a barn, then it doesn't matter how nice of a paintball marker you have it's still not going to work for you. You know a paintball marker works up to your level of incompetence so if you can't play, the gun is not going to play for you, doesn't matter how nice of a paintball gun you get. When you're starting to look at upgrades one thing to ask yourself is what don't you like about your current setup? Is it too long, is it too heavy, does it not shoot fast enough, does it not shoot slow enough, does it not have the accuracy I'm looking for? It is kind of important to know what you are not looking for in order to find out what it is that you are looking for. A lot of people want to rush out and buy the newest thing but the newest thing may not be what you are looking for. Now we have to ask the other questions like what's your budget, how much money do you want to spend on this marker, do you want to buy something out of the box that is ready to play, do you really honestly have to go get this brand new part for it? These are all the things that you've got to think about. Also if it's your first paintball marker you are also going to have to buy a hopper and an air tank for it as well so work that into your budget. You're also going to have to buy a marker that suits your style of play. Are you more of a speed ball player where you want something nice and light that you can tuck in tight with? Are you a kind of woodsy kind of guy, are you looking for something millisemi, are you looking for something that is going to be a little more oh I don't know different? Again it is doing your homework to find what you are looking for and then going out and finding the best deal on it. Just remember that you want to buy something that meets all of your needs, not just your budget needs, not just your trigger finger needs but something that is going to fit exactly what you want. Remember anything out of the box is customizable. You can get different drop forwards, different hoppers, you can get different air tanks, different barrels. If you don't like the body you can get a different body for it. It is like hot rodding but much much smaller.
