Hello this is Rob Rubin and you're watching Expert Village. In this segment we are going to be talking about goggle maintenance. Goggles are the most important piece of safety gear on the paintball field and that's why it is important to keep these clean. If you take a head shot during the day the pain will actually eat away at the lexan lens here so you want to clean these off if you take a shot in the head. On the field if you take a shot, don't worry about it just clean your lens and keep on playing but after you get home is when you really want to disassemble this and clean them. The best way for cleaning these is just water. The first step in cleaning off your goggle lenses is to remove the mask and ear protection. In a lot of different type of goggles the mask actually completely comes off the lens frame with a gentle pull, just like that. Depending on the type of goggles that you own you might also have to remove the fasteners from the ear protection so the ear protection is completely separated before you remove the mask with a gentle pull, just like that so you are left with the goggle frames. Some goggle types, the frame and the lens and the mask are all one piece. Now we move on to the next step which is removing the visor which also just pops right out and you are left with a goggle lens frame. Depending on the style of goggle there is another step that you might have to take. Some goggle styles like this one have push pin retainers so you may have to push the pins out so that you can remove the lens. Other lenses are held in place with these plastic tabs that actually fit over the goggle frame. They're kind of like mushrooms in that they sprout out. When removing these it takes a little time to do so but what you want to do is work your thumb underneath the plastic of the frame, pull it up similar to this, and then just pop it out. Some goggle systems have a simple lens retention system in which you can remove a couple of clips and then literally push the lens right out of the frame, just like that, and your lens is ready for cleaning.
