Tools Needed for Maintaining Paintball Gear

Hello, this is Rob Rubin, and you're watching Expert Village. This series of episodes we're going to be talking about routine maintenance. Paintball is a gear intensive sport; we all know this. And if the gear doesn't work, than it can ruin your day. So, what you want to do is when you get done playing, is that you need to come back to your home, abode, whatever, and you need to do routine maintenance on your gear. Now, when you want to do maintenance, what you need to do first, of course, is set everything up. So, of course, I have everything set up right here. I have the Allen wrench kits, I have some screwdrivers, both flathead and Phillips, some Teflon tape, some O-rings and such, paintball lubricant--a lot of people ask me what kind of lubricant to use. They actually do have paintball specific lubricants out there. If you don't have that, you can use something like three in one oil. A nice, light machine oil will be fine. If you don't have that, you can go to your corner store or hardware store, they've got lots of it, trust me. And, of course, multi-tools, a beverage if you?re choosing, and, if you're like me, one of these can't hurt. Inevitably I'm going to be using this sometime before the end of the series. You might notice under my work table I actually have a towel setup. There's a good reason for that. You don't want to work on a plane table. A lot of times when you're working with paintball equipment, you have to wipe stuff off, so having a towel--an old junk towel works perfect--just lay it down as your work mat and that's fine. Another thing is that normally I don't work on a work table like this. I work on the floor. I lay everything out on the floor and just work there. And there's a simple reason for that. A lot of people can tell you: you can't fall off the floor. And, the first time that you have a ball bearing roll out of your paintball marker, and fall on the floor and then just roll away, you'll understand why.
