How to Lead Targets in Paintball

Hello this is Rob Rubin and you're watching Expert Village. In this episode we are going to talk about leading your target which is sort of a laning skill, it is one of the skills of laning but I see a lot of people doing it very badly if not at all. Paintballs accelerate very rapidly so it is not like a bullet it is not instantaneously from one side of the field to the other. Let me show you something. This paintball marker is currently choreographed at about 275 feet per second. That back bunker over there, that's about 150 to 200 feet away. Check out how long it takes for a paintball to get there. That was about a second and a half to two seconds. One second or two seconds may not sound like a lot but in paintball terms that's almost forever. You see by the time you shoot the paintball at where the person was standing, somebody in one or two seconds can run across the field and get already to a new position so what you need to do as a shooter is you need to lead your target. You need to not shoot where they were, you need to shoot where they are going. So when you are leading your target, you're predicting where the other guy is going to go. So in this case I know that somebody is going to that back corner bunker. I'm not going to be shooting at the bunker itself, I'm actually going to be shooting about one or two inches to the side of the bunker. The idea is not to pound the bunker but to pound in front of the bunker so that anybody running through that space has a high probability of being shot by a paintball that I shoot. Kind of like this. Did I get you? There is one "oober-elite" skill that you can obtain if you are good enough and you are wanting to put in the time and practice and that is the one ball long ball shot. It is a really heavy duty skill because you are going to fire one ball and you are going to have the one ball meet the one guy somewhere in the middle. It can be done, I've done it and if a big fat guy can do it then so can you.
