How to do a Handstand on a Physioball

Next on the physioball, I'm going to show you what I like to call a physioball handstand. This is basically a reverse back extension, but what you're going to do--what it's designed to do-- is bring your feet all the way up on the ball and it really, really forces you to use the muscles in your lower back to maintain your balance. It's also going to hit certain aspects, certain portions, of your triceps as well. So, square yourself. Position yourself on the ball. Get in a nice position, here. Come over the ball. And extend up through your lower back. And go up into a handstand. Hold that and then come on down. As you can see, as I come over the ball, I'm really using the muscles in my triceps to keep my weight back to avoid me from flipping over the physioball. Up. Down. One modification for the advanced user is to go into what's called the frog kick. So when you come in, go up. Bring those legs down. Bring them back out and then lower them. Up, frog kick and back down. Really, really tightens up that lower back. One more. And down. Ok, for you beginners, here's the back extension and lower. For the more advanced, go up. Then we do a frog kick and lower. And that's your handstand on the physioball.
