RV & Camper Walk-Throughs

Hi, my name is Gary Godwin and I'm the General Manager for Hawley's Camping Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. On behalf of Expert Village, this is a tape entitled: How to Purchase an RV. Now that we've completed your paperwork and in some instances, the RV dealer actually does this other process before the paperwork. I prefer doing it that way myself because I want to make sure that you're happy with your camper. Everything is there that we said would be, then do the paperwork, because it just makes it flow a little better. But again, every dealership's different. But the demonstration is very important. It's like buying a new horse, buying a new car, buying a new boat, buying a new TV; if somebody doesn't walk through with you and explain all the functions of this, it could be very confusing. I personally, turn the keys, it works, I'm okay. But, there's a lot more to an RV than just doing that. What's going to happen is that you're going to be met by a demonstrator and he's going to take you out to your camper. He's going to walk you around your camper, show you all the features of the outside, take you inside, show you all the features of the inside, how all the gauges work; all of this stuff has to work in order for you to have a pleasant camping trip, and that's what we want to make sure of. We want to make sure also that all of your safety equipment inside your camper, your LP detector, your smoke detector, all of those things are working so that you are safe in your home. Because this is your home while you're out camping.
