Belly Dancing : Differences Between Egyptian and Tribal
Hi! My name is Sahira and I’m here on behalf of Expert Village to tell you all about belly dancing. Egyptian style dance tends to be more solo oriented, it tends be more about the dancer interacting with her audience as opposed to the dancers interacting together. The movements themselves if you wanted to take say an Egyptian style movement and incorporate it into a tribal style dance. You’re going to want to make it more grounded and more earthy. So while we might do an inner hip circle or a Mayan like this, an Egyptian dance is very up on the toes, it’s very airy, very light, in tribal style dance you are going to posture that more, your arms are going to be more postured, you’re going to be closer to the ground and you’re going to make it more muscle oriented and a little more proud. So really the difference is come in with the attitude of the dance and there are a lot of really great examples if you search around online to look for videos, but in the beginning if you can’t find the exact style, you’re looking for either style of instruction, we’ll get you started because at the heart they are the same.
