I remember one time when I was a child that I did not clean my instrument for some time and my teacher could not understand why my trumpet was not making any sound We cleaned my instrument and an unbelievably gross wade of Plort came out of one of my tubes. So that is when I realized it is important to maintain cleanliness in all your tubes. You remove all your tubes. You remove all the tubes that you can. The tube I am going to have to work on. There are ways when you have a stuck tube to remove it, but we will get into that at a later time. But if you are to clean all your parts the entire instrument can disassemble and unscrew. Then you can clean the bottom of the valves. Here you can see the bottom of the valve moving, it is on a spring and that shows the channel of the valve inside. You don't want to lose pieces, that's for sure. So that is how you clean your tubes and I will show you how to clean your valves in just a second.
