How to Make a Boutonniere

And now we are going to build a boutonnière, which is pretty simple. We just did the corsage one if you haven’t seen it. The biggest difference between a corsage and a boutonnière, namely, is that there is rarely ever a bow in a corsage, and usually it is just one flower in a boutonnière. So we are going to do just a single rosebud and some greenery. This is a pretty typical boutonniere that you may see done, and there is not much to it. Basically, the same steps: you wrap the wires of the greenery that you have already taped and wired around the taped and wired rosebuds, and then you floral tape the whole thing. Some other flowers that are gorgeous as boutonnieres are miniature cow lilies; they make a really stunning boutonnière. You really don’t have to add anything to them. You can just do that flower on its own. You hardly need to have greenery with it even. A lot of times it is hard to find a flower that seems appropriate as a boutonniere, because often times they are viewed as kind of girlie. So again, do the signature or a corkscrew wrap at the bottom here, give the whole thing a bend, and there is your boutonnière.
