Christmas & Holiday Arts & Crafts Projects for Kids
Hi! I am Debbie with Expert Village.com and we are here today to show you how to make some precious Christmas ornaments with your young crafter. We are going to be doing some painting, so before you always want to get ready before start painting, have an area that you know is going to be safe for your young painter; kitchen table is probably one of the best places to be. Have a mat or some sort; it could be newspaper, could be wax paper, or could be anything but some kind of mat that they can work on top of and keep the paint off special areas. You need to have on hand your paints, some water; washable paints are the best kind for the young kids, some handy wipes, cleanup and some paper towels for cleanup. One of the best ways to do this is go to a craft store and find some of their very inexpensive; you can find them very inexpensive little ornaments, this one is a little snowman. It’s made out of plaster 59 cents. He has a little hanger on it, it’s perfect. You can have your wooden varieties which are really great for those fine motor skills and staying in the lines and painting. These are really cute for grandma and grandpa because you can put their picture in it, everybody loves it, and so it is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way for your child to produce something that they are really proud of. When you get them started painting, be sure that you talk to them about how to very gently dip your brush in the paint, wipe off your excess paint, lay your ornament down so that you can be steady with your brush and just let them have at it, let them pick the colors that they want, let them take the time that they want, encourage them to go slowly so that they can do their neatest work and before you know it, they have got a precious little Christmas ornament to give to someone they love.
