Using Bead Findings for Making Beaded Jewelry
Welcome to the Bead Bar in Orlando, Florida. My name is Sonia and on this segment for Expert Village, we are going to talk about findings. What findings is, is basically all the little parts and pieces that are used in constructing all your jewelry pieces that you will be making. What we have done is we have laid out some of the parts and pieces, so that you can have a look and see what is some of the options are. There are certainly many of them, but this will give you an idea of what some of those little parts and pieces will look like as a finished products. So lets go ahead and point some out. Okay we have got a couple of different clasps here and the clasps are of course the catches or the finishing part of your jewelry pieces as shown in this piece right here. Okay, so as we go across right here we have an S-hook, so that is really a nice option that you can use. Here we have a toggle, one of my personal favorites; I always think they are pretty and easy to use. We have a spring ring, we have a lobster claw that is heart shaped and we have a box clasp. Now over on this other side, this is a clasp that is used for multiple strand, either bracelets or necklaces and that will accommodate up to five strands, sometimes even more. Here is some more decorative larger toggle. Depending on the pieces that you are going to be making will also depend on the size of the finishing part that you are going to be using. Right here you have a hook and eye and we have a filigree pearl clasp there. And working our way across, this is used in earrings for making the chandelier type earrings and as you can see some that are finished here and then what we have done here is we have attached, this is called a French hook, there is lots of options but the French hook probably one of the most used ones, also you have an option of the lever back and those are the ones that will lock in, so if you have a problem with any of your earrings being lost that is usually a nice option. Also as far as earrings go, you can also find some of these hoops with a little loops, which makes these really beautiful, little drops, right here we have the crimp tubes that is what we will using to finish off the necklaces when we use our stringing cable that we will be doing in one of the other segments and this is the crimp cover. There are wonderful options and really basically you just have to get in there and have fun and get creative. Thank you.
