Calming Dogs in Veterinarian Exam Rooms

Hi my name is Sarah and my name is Haley and we are two of the technicians here at Extra Care Animal Hospital and on behalf of Expert Village.com, we are going to speak with you today a little bit about the care of your dog. Once you get your dog in the examination room, the same will apply as in here that did out in the lobby. It is important that if your dog is excessively exciting, to say your praise and soothe them until the dog has calmed down. You don’t want to reinforce the excitable behavior because that just makes your dog get more and more nervous and excited. When they get nervous and excited if you try to soothe them they see that as they are doing something right at that moment. So all you do is just ignore the excitable behavior. Once they have settled and calmed down, then you can talk to them, hold them, cuddle them and do all the soothing you want to. Generally once you are in an exam with your dog, you can either have a seat or stand.
