Standard Tuning for Bass Guitar

Our traditional bass guitar is going to have four strings. The top string will be our lowest sounding string. This will be "E". Try plucking "E" with your first finger, over here our next string up will be "A". The next string will be "D". The final string will be "G". These are the names of strings as open strings, open notes. When we play notes upon these strings, we will also refer to them as such. It is really important that you get used to knowing that this is the E, A, D and G strings. We won't be messing with other tunings until we become use to playing these types in standard tuning. So, remember, E, A, D, G - G, D, A,and E. When we tune we will keep these in mind as well.
