How to Check a Bicycle Tube for Puncture

In terms of finding a puncture on a tube, if you've located either the nail or glass on the tire you can then find the corresponding spot on the tube because the new that the valve lined up with the label at that point. Or, you can just add enough air in the tube until you found where the leak is. In terms of patching or replacing you would hope that the hole is not located near any of the seams because if you do want to patch a hole near one of these seams you have to use the sandpaper that's in the kit to flatten it completely. There's other kinds of punctures called the pinch flat and that is from riding with too low of pressure, hitting something, and putting two holes next to each other in the tube. I usually don't recommend patching this because it really requires a large patch and a lot of sanding in order to get an effective repair.
