Basic First Aid: When to Apply an Arm Sling?
Hi everyone. My name is Amy, and we are going to be talking about fractures, dislocations, springs or strains. It is not necessary to know whether or not the injury is a fracture, dislocation, spring or strain since the care provided is the same. Regardless of the injury, you want to, if possible, mobilize the injury. Sometimes you can tell whether or not a bone has been broken if there is visible deformity to the limb, or if you hear a snapping or a popping or a grating sound. If you want to mobilize the wound when transporting someone, if it is possible to transport them to the hospital versus calling 911.
