Mix Ingredients for English Muffin Dough
Hi I'm Rachel for Expert Village. Now we are going to start mixing all the ingredients together. First we are going to use the sugar and the yeast we are going to take a pinch of sugar. Sprinkle it on top of the yeast, pour the 1/8 cup of water on top of the yeast and just leave it until we put the rest of the ingredients. We are going to take 2 1/4 cup of flour and pour it in a bowl. Make a little well inside here we are going to pour the milk the warm milk, the 1 tablespoon of melted butter, the mixture of the yeast, the half egg and we are going to start from the middle to mix it. Once it is nice and smooth we are going to start adding your flour from the sides. This dough should become nice and soft. Notice the bagels which where hard this dough is suppose to be nice and much softer and easier to work with. (mixing dough together) You can always use a mixer of course but for small quantity like that I prefer to do it by hand. Now we are going to work on the counter cause it is much easier. I'm going to take some flour and just continue to knead it on the counter for about a minute to 3 minutes until the dough would be nice and the texture would be soft and altogether. I will show you in a minute you can see I'm working with both hands with kind of the end of my palm that is how I'm punching this dough. Until it is nice and ready. Now what we are going to do with this dough we are going to put it in a plastic bag which need to rise at least double in size. If you put it a warmer place it might take less time but it usually takes about a hour to hour to sometimes a hour in a half to rise and double it's size. We are going to leave it here and wait for it to rise.
