Porch Remodeling During Home Renovation
In our home renovation, we built a new entryway. What we did was this area that you see here connects with a long rock porch that goes around our house. This area, the full length of our house, was a cement porch. It was just bare cement and it went down and there was a laundry room at the end of it. So what we did was we divided the cement porch, and put about a fourth of it here as an outside alcove entrance, and then the rest of it is inside. We finished the cement porch so that its inside the house, and made an entryway inside. On the outside segment where I’m standing, we laid tile, and then we took a hammer and we broke this marble rock into pieces, and then pieced it back together. Come on in and I’ll show you the inside part. The first part of the inside entrance, the interior entrance, is a continuation of the tile. This is a tile from Italy that we laid ourselves in this pattern. This is where people can take off their shoes if they want and wipe their feet. We can mop up the mud pretty easily. This part of the entrance turns into the main room of the house, which you can see after you round the corner. At the entrance here, we decided to add a large picture window which reflects light into the main room, and you can see the garden from the main room. What we wanted was to bring the outside in.
