Hi! I'm Vincent Laporta on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to start off with a basic jack o lantern. It's one of the easiest of all pumpkins. It's basically just 2 eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Various shapes. You can use triangles, circles, half circles. You can mix and match and do anything you want. You can do this various ways. You can take a piece of paper and draw yourself a pattern, or you can draw on the pumpkin with either a light pencil or a pen because it'll wash off when you're done. The first thing you do is when you choose your pumpkin; you have to evaluate it and see which side you want. As you can see on this pumpkin, it has a scab running down here and it's also a flat side. That would make it a lot more difficult, but sometimes you can with the right pattern incorporate things of this nature. Today I'm going to use the nice round side. I think that would be a nice classic look. It's round, it's clean, and it'll be a nice face for when we carve our pumpkin.
