Having a Advisory Committee for a Political Campaign
Hi, this is Jim Goettler on behalf of Expert Village. This is a series of videos about managing a political campaign. Politics is really pretty funny sometimes. It's all about perceptions, what people think. They think they saw or what they think they heard. When you put together your staff, as we talked about earlier you're going to find working with media people and you'll find yourself working with the field people, people have to do the work. There's a whole another group of folks that I call the advisory committees. These are people in the community who support your candidacy or support the idea of your initiative, but just don't have the time or the inclination to really get involved on a serious, serious level. These are folks that I strongly urge you to make use of, to bring into the fold of your campaign, put in the letterhead if need be. Supporters of your campaign are very valuable, because they in turn will bring other people in. So what I'm suggesting is, to have an Advisory Committee to actually bring their expertise to the candidate, to the campaign on whatever issue is that they obviously know about. It's a group of people that may not be staff, they may not be considered the core of the campaign, but they're people in the community who are passionate about their particular issue and support your campaign. Bring them into the fold in any way you can. Very similar to this, but slightly different, are the advocacy campaigns, the advocacy groups that I'm going to touch on in the next segment. Thanks.
