Taking Donations for a House Concert

Hi! This is Jim Goettler for Expert Village. This is a video series about producing a house concert and because a house concert is not a form of commercial venue, it is strongly recommended if the pay and fee structure for the performers be freewill or by donations. This cuts through a lot of red tape so you are not a venue and you are not a commercial establishment. You really are a group of friends inviting someone over to play music, to perform music and giving donations to people is perfectly acceptable. I strongly encourage it. It is a way to make sure that the performer has a good fee in the evening. But nothing is expected. If someone can't pay, that should be okay. Let them come, hear the music, maybe learn a little something along the way. The next segment I am going to talk a little nitty gritty about putting a house concert together and that is talking about the traditional sets that you may want to schedule for the performance. Thanks.
