Connecting Gazebo Plywood Sections

Hi! Welcome back to Expert Village. My name is Charlie Folkman and today we are going to continue building our gazebo. The next thing we are going to do is connect our two 3 ft x 6 ft panels together to make our 6 ft x 6 ft sheet of plywood. We are going to go ahead and take this 2 x 4 here and cut it down to 69 inches. Now that we have this cut down to 69 inches, we are going to go ahead and lay it down underneath our 3 ft x 6 ft sheet right here. Now we are only going to put it half way on there because we want to be able to screw the other panel on to the side of it. The next step is we are going to go ahead and check the measurement and make sure this is set off at an 1 1/2. The reason we are doing that is when we make the skirt, our 2 x 4's are actually an 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches so that 1 1/2 comes flush with the board. Okay the next step is we are going to go ahead and start screwing this in. Wait Richard, hold on one second. We are going to want to go ahead and pre-drill the holes first. This helps with cosmetic reasons and helps with the screw going straight so we are going to start pre-drilling our holes. Now that we have our holes pre-drilled, we are going to go ahead and start putting our screws in. Now that we have this side all screwed in, we are going to go ahead and grab our other panel and add the 2 x 4. First we are going to take the 2 x 4 and give this edge something to sit on. Then we are going to grab our other panel and go ahead and set it across and make sure that both ends are even and flush. Same process. We are going to go ahead and pre-drill the holes and put the screws in.
