Checking the Coolant Expansion Tank on a Polaris ATV

On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Tom Roland and we are here at Cottonwood Motor Sports and we are here to tell you about doing service on a Polaris Quad and this is fairly representative of macho, many of them. This is the expansion tank for the coolant. It is right by the filler dipstick or the oil tank and it is marked max which is your high level and minimum which is your low level. In theory, it should be somewhere between these two lines. Minimum would generally be called maximum and would generally be high. Anywhere in here is generally not an issue. The cap, you can take this cap off when the motor is hot. This is cap is vented to the atmosphere. It has a hole in the top of it and that hole is supposed to be open and there is also a rubber washer that helps to seal it and there is another little green piece here that acts as a check to keep the water from being able to splash out this hole. It will get into here and kind of collect and will fall and then fall back out of the hole rather than just kind of ooze out of the top due to pressure or whatever. So as long as the tank is not overflowing, this all functions the way that it is supposed to.
