Using the Song Mode on an Akai MPC Drum Machine
This is D.J. Brasby here for Expert Village. We are going over the MPC making hip hop beats and we are going to go over the song mode, if you hit shift one that will take you into the song mode. You can create a song; if you hit open window you can name it and your master or your tempo. You don’t have to set that that will set automatically when you put your sequences in. So what you want to do is go into here; we have nothing in here. You want to scroll it to our first sequence, which is number one. It allows you to set how many reps it’s going to play. So if you want to play once before it goes to the next sequence or you can have it play twice, three times whatever is good and you cursor down one and then you add in your next sequence. You want to have that play two times. You got the insert key if you want to add one. If you want to add a sequence before, and the delete key F5 if you want to get rid of one. Then when you are all done you just hit play start. It will start your song and its really useful for keeping track of songs if you have choruses, if you have little breakdowns, if you have a person performing over this song and you can you know count up the bars and have it exactly all the time without having to remember which sequences to play.
