Saving Beats on an Akai MPC Drum Machine
This is D.J. Brasby here with Expert Village. We are going over making hip hop beats with a MPC and we are going to save the beat we have just been working on. You want to hit shift three that loads it. It will now take us to the load screen and up in the right corner here there is a folder. So you want to hit open window and you can hit cursor over. This is the top, your root window and these are all your folders. So to create a new folder you hit F5, type a name in and we will just name this one new, hit F5 again and enter. It creates a new folder there; that’s the one we are going to use you hit. Make sure it’s highlighted and then hit open window and see there is nothing here. F2 is save. You want to save your sequence and your songs that essentially is the math data of the MPC. It tells it like where the song is going to be played, when it plays each note and all that. So you are going to hit F6, do it save and then you want to scroll over to save all programs and sounds; that’s actually the sounds that you have sampled into your AKAI. So you are going to hit F6 do it. It will say save with sounds; say yes. You want to hit F5 save. That’s going to go through and save each of your sound so that you can work on your beat and recall everything at another time.
