Hello my name is Jenny Bardwell and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village with my colleague Susan Brown and we are going to teach you today how to make salt rising bread. Here we have we are going to have our low self rising bread when it is ready to go in the oven cause it is risen up to the edge of the pan. A common misconception about salt rising bread is that it contains salt and that is part of why the name of the bread is salt rising bread. That is not actually not true cause salt is not a necessary ingredient for salt rising bread some recipe do not use salt at all some do. The theory however is the name salt rising bread came from the method that was originally used to keep the salt rising and the warm temperature and that was that they heated rock salt and put the rock salt in a container and then put the starter down inside the rock salt which keep the starter warm over not so it would ferment and become risen for your sponge.
